Erewash Sound is a local Community radio
station, based in Derbyshire. They are now on FM on 96.8 and on the
internet as well. Online they have a downloadable media player, so

NATURE:
We live just south of here, and are up in the Peaks as often as possible.
Britain's first national park, established in 1951, is visited by people from
all over the world. They come to find peace, tranquillity and adventure,
experiencing some of England’s finest climbing, caving, walking and cycling. The
National Park is also home to 38,000 people. The local economy is based on
tourism, farming, quarrying and manufacturing. If you have never been
there, make the effort !!

Animalarium - We are a small Zoo in
mid-Wales, we like to offer a home to unwanted Zoo animals and exotic pets. Even
our African Leopard was a unwanted pet! A great day out.

Edinburgh Zoo is owned by The
Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. The Society was founded in March
1909, and the Zoo opened in July 1913.
Set in 82 acres of sloping
parkland, the Zoo is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh
city centre.
Apart from getting close to
over 1,000 rare and endangered animals, there are many different ways
to enjoy your day out.

CHESTER ZOO is the UK’s number one zoo,
with over 7000 animals
and 400 different species, including some of the most endangered species on the
planet. With more than one million visitors every year, the Zoo is an all-year
round favourite attraction for kids of all ages!
Hampshire. There are over 200 species of animals at Marwell Zoological
Park, from tiny ants to the tallest giraffe, set in 100 acres of beautiful
Hampshire parkland.
Awarded ‘Zoo of the Year 2004’ by the Good Britain Guide,
Bristol
Zoo
Gardens has a continuous reputation for excellence,
innovation, and dedication to conservation. It’s the fifth
oldest zoo in the world and the oldest outside of a capital
city, and a
long established major tourist attraction in
Bristol.

Twycross Zoo opened in
1963 on a site in Leicestershire. Initially a comparatively
modest collection, it has grown into one of the major British
zoos, attracting over 450,000 visitors a year. It is famous for
its collection of primates.
Situated
near the small village of Twycross, the zoo occupies over 40
acres and is set in open countryside. Despite its rural
location, it is only four miles from the M42/A42 (which links
the M1 and M6) making it readily accessible from anywhere in
central England.
Doncaster,
Yorkshire. This is a unique place where animals have the
space to roam, fun and excitement for families to share and an
exciting vision for future development to support conservation
around the world.
This is a great park -
the staff are polite, and knowledgeable. The Lemur Walk is
amazing - go visit.
Chard, Somerset. We accept any animal whose life
is in danger and for whom we have room. We actively seek caring homes for cats
and dogs within a 30 mile radius of the Sanctuary. Our other residents,
which range from cows to chipmunks are not re-homed and stay with us for the rest
of their lives. No animal is ever put to sleep unless our vet advises that its
quality of life is no longer viable.
This charity rescue is open to the public, is clean, well set out and a
delight to visit. Please do support this project.
Torquay, Devon. Living
Coasts, Torquay's Coastal Zoo, is a unique, world class aquatic visitor
attraction, focusing on the conservation of coastal and marine life around the
globe. It has been developed by Paignton Zoo, with financial support from the
South West Regional Development Agency and the European Regional Development
funds.
 
There are over 200 animals at Dartmoor Zoological Park: from tiny stick insects
to Ben our Brown Bear or Solomon our Lion, all set in over 30 acres of beautiful
parkland. Discover something different, learn something amazing and help us make
tomorrow's world rich in animal life.
Sheffield, S. Yorks. Over the past 11 years the centre has evolved to included a wide range of animals. The centre currently is home to the Tropical House, Bird of prey centre, baby animal nursery, Pets corner and a mature nature trail. Well worth the visit.
Pulborough Brooks, West Sussex. (RSPB) Set in the sheltered Arun valley, in
the heart of West Sussex, Pulborough Brooks is a fantastic place for a day out
for people of all ages. There is a superb nature reserve and trail with bird
watching hides and viewpoints, a visitor area with gift shop and a tearoom with
terrace - not to mention the play area!
Blackbrook Zoological
Park, Staffordshire. Home
to the largest bird collection in the UK, Blackbrook is internationally renowned
for it’s achievements in breeding some of the world’s rarest birds.
Cricket St Thomas, Somerset:
One of our aims is to create environments in which animals can
behave as naturally as possible. New exhibits are designed to allow the animals
to express natural behaviours seen in the wild. Visit Lemur Wood the UK's
biggest walk through lemur exhibit or ride through the Wildlife Valley on the
Safari Train. Well worth visiting !!
Chestnut Conservation
Centre, High Peak, Derbyshire. Our Wildlife Park is unique in the UK
because it has Europe's largest groups of multi-specied otters, owls and other
indigenous wildlife.

thought to a lighthouse, I was fascinated by this site. There are some

with them. if anyone has images of English lighthouses, I'm sure the site
could use them please. It would be great to have pictures for the whole of
the English Shipping Forecast - Forties, Tyne, Dogger etc. Great project
for someone with a bit of time on their hands!
